Winter Braidout on Natural Hair with Qhemet Biologics

I know in the winter>>>we should more or less likely be protective styling but I still love my twistouts, braidouts and bantu knot outs (aka “the out styles”)! And so, if you do decide to wear your hair in one of these styles try to wear a protective style for as long as possible before doing one of these styles. For example, do a two strand twist set (small to medium size) and wear it for a bout a week and a half and then rock a twist out for the last few days of the week. It’s a happy medium or sort of a compromise!

I ended up cowashing my hair after wearing my two strand twists for a while with the Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Conditioner which by the way I have never reviewed! It’s similar to the Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture which is silicone free, however, it does contain a -cone, or amodimethicone to be exact. I probably won’t repurchase it since I can use other conditioners that are silicone free. Remember silicones coat and seal the hair shaft but you should always try to look for water-soluble silicones.

As far as styling, I used the Qhemet Biologics Moringa Tree Conditioning Ghee, which is creamy and lightly scented, as my leave in conditioner, layered the Burdock Root Buttercream, light moisturizer, on top and sealed and styled with the Aethiopika Hydrate and Twist Butter! These are great winter staples! I’ve reviewed these products before back in 2012 and I still get great results but my hair is just longer. As long as the formulation doesn’t change then these will remain product staples!

In the pic below, my products look a little dingy because I spilled some oil on them 😦 As always, I like to mostly do maintenance braids at night, which only takes about 5- 10 min without applying additional product, to maintain this look but usually by the 3rd day, it gets a little tiring so then I just put on my satin loc sock without rebraiding.
