If you didn’t get a chance to listen to this topic on the Natural Hair, Beauty and Frugal Finds internet radio blog on Tuesday morning then check it out here! I also talked about some of these is my last Youtube video here!

Typically when I wash my hair I use a no suds cleanser, condition and/or deep condition, detangle, moisturize and style my hair. Below I share some of my favorite cleansers, conditioners, and leave in conditioners! 🙂 Hope this helps some of you on your hair journey. I also share some of the information that I have learned along the way since my big chop back in April 2012.

Cleansers in general should be free of sulfates which are harsh chemicals and detergents that dry your hair out! Cleansers should hydrate, nourish, moisturize, balance the ph level and condition the hair. They should also leave your hair soft and manageable. I mostly use cleansing conditioners or no poos which don’t necessarily lather which offer more moisture and reduce frizz. They typically are no suds meaning that don’t lather as much as your traditional shampoo.

My favorite cleansers include the following:

  • Original Moxie Get Clean No Foam (love!!!)
  • Naturalicious 5 in 1 Moroccan Rhassoul Clay (love!!!)
  • SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine
  • Jessicurl Cleansing Cream (love!!!)
  • As I Am Naturally Coconut Cowash

You can get most of these from www.curlmart.com, www.aveyou.com, www.jessicurl.com,  www.naturalicious.net or www.originalmoxie.com.

As far as conditioners, or rather those that you rinse out, they should soften your hair, further allow you to detangle, and moisturize your hair. Look for conditioners with conditioning agents such as Cetyl, Cetaryl, and Stearyl Alcohols, Behentrimonium Chloride or Methylsulfate.

My favorite rinse out conditioners include the following (see my last post regarding deep conditioners):

  • SheScentit Avocado Conditioner (love!!!!!)
  • Giovanni Tea Tree Triplie Treat Conditioner

You can get Shescentit from www.shescentit.com and Giovanni from Whole Foods, Plum Market or a local health food store.

Leave in conditioners smooth the hair shaft and cuticle and prime hair for styling, allowing it to be easy manipulated and styled. Leave In’s typically have some of the same conditioning agents as rinse out conditioners.  My favorite leave in conditioners include the following:

  • Qhemet Biologics Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee
  • Original Moxie Leave In Conditioner
  • Kinky Curly Knot Today
  • MyHoneyChild O’Honey Curl Mist
  • Naturalista Juicy Elixer
  • Darcy’s Botanicals Sweet Cocoa Bean Whip

You can get these products from www.qhemetbiologics.com, www.originalmoxie.com, http://www.curlmart.com, www.darcysbotanicals.com, http://www.myhoneychild.com and http://www.artfire.com/ext/shop/studio/juicyleavein.

Thanks for reading! I also want to mention that I attended a workshop yesterday night presented by Gwen Jimmere the CEO and owner of Naturalicious regarding How to Grow Your Hair Fast held at Whole Foods Market in Midtown in Detroit. She covered these same topics and even more! Check out my Instagram @anyiahessentials to see pics from the workshop.
